The Pros and Cons of Mobile Computing

I've always enjoyed mobile computing or the ability to do computing tasks with my mobile devices anywhere. Mobile computing has given me the flexibility to multi-task and maximize my time. Unfortunately, it has not always been a great experience.

Here are some of my good and bad observations in mobile computing.

The Good

  • Being productive during down time . Obviously, being able to work virtually anywhere is the best benefit of the mobile computing. There are times when you want to do some work when you have some down time, like when you're waiting for your flight, waiting for someone in a restaurant, and other waiting activities.
  • Being able to work when you least expect it. There are times when you suddenly need to do some report, respond to an important email, or send a file asap. During these times, it's reassuring to know that you can just power on your mobile device and start working! Globalization has made working with co-workers from other countries and different timezones a necessity. As a result, your working hours is oftentimes disregarded by your foreign counterparts.
  • Being able to play my multimedia collection anywhere . All work and no play can may you a dull person.

The Bad

  • Rest time is no longer rest time . Although we can do some tasks on our computers during our rest time or down time, it also takes away actual time for rest. Our minds and bodies need time to calm down and recharge, too.
  • Work-Life Imbalance can happen . This is another sad conclusion of mobile computing. Because we can do our work anywhere, we tend to work at home. When we do work from home, or when we bring home our work, we eat up time we can spend for our family, or for personal time. This imbalance often results in workaholism .
  • We become connected 24/7 . As cool as it may sound, being connected 24/7 is not healthy. Being connected all the time can keep you up all night resulting in lack of sleep. Lack of sleep has been proven to cause a lot of sickness. Another ill effect of being connected 24/7 is the one mentioned in the previous bullet point: work-life imbalance.

There are more good and bad observations about you may think of about mobile computing. The negative aspect of it can be fixed by setting your priorities straight and developing self-discipline. And, like most things in life, moderation is key.

3 Step Formula to Writing Your USP

There is an easy 3 step formula, and this is something that we are going to do. This is a formula, that was created by a member of GKIC named John Carlton. And this is an easy way to be able to create a USP. You can create it fast, you can create it slow, you can create it a lot of different ways. There are people that have one word for their USP. So you don’t have to use this, but some people have a hard time getting their mind flowing. So that is what I want to do is help you to get your mind flowing today.

Your USP is not product driven, it is specific to you and your customer. The USP defines your uniqueness in what your competitors do not or will not offer. Tons of people can and do sell your product, but not everyone can bring to the table the special details and care that you do. Focus your USP around your offer, your uniqueness and how it will benefit your client.

1. You start of the first part of your sentence is “we help who?” Who is your market? We help who? And then the second question is”to do.” We help who? do. And the to do is your unique. This is where you need to make sure you offer your unique proposition. What is the benefit that they are going to get? Your target market is going to get this benefit.

2. To Do: Describe what you do… this is where the unique comes in. Tell someone how you are the one they want to work with based on what benefit you bring to them. This is not about you… this is about how you and ONLY you can benefit them.

3. Even if: Here, we bring in the worst case senario that makes them know that you will be there for them when the worst case comes up. Maybe when they have a loss, maybe when they lose a loved one, maybe when they are injured. Use this section to let them know when you will be amazing and they will be eternally glad they put their business with you.

Remember, you can’t be all things to all people..that isn’t reality. Clients that take up a ton of your time and energy cost you more in lost revenue than the value of keeping them. Our USP should center around attracting the right people. People that you want to do business with and people that will refer business, and grow your influence in your community.

Scuba Diving in Krabi

Divers lucky enough to explore the spectacular Krabi waters will be rewarded with glimpses of whales and leopard sharks, turtles, dolphins and a myriad of colorful tropical fish.

When to Plan Your Diving Holiday in Krabi

The best time to live in Krabi is between November and April when conditions are at their absolute best. Theoretically, you can dive all year-round, although from May to October the monsoon can make conditions and visibility poor. If you are planning a dive trip at this time of year, consider instead the Gulf of Thailand where the weather is better.

Learn to Dive in Krabi

There are over 40 scuba diving schools in Krabi that cater for both licensed divers and beginners alike. The low-cost and shallow waters make Krabi an excellent place to learn – some Krabi hotels and resorts even offer a test dive in their pool! If you do try this and get the diving bug, you can follow a test dive with a complete a four-day PADI Open Water Diver course. This permits you to dive in open water with an experienced Dive Master.

Where to dive

If you are staying in or near near Ao Nang you can dive in the rich and beautiful waters of the seven main islands around Koh Poda. These islands are within the breathtaking Hat Nopparat Thara – Mu Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park.

The waters around Koh Ha are teeming with over 60 different species of coral that house a multitude of shrimps and crabs. You can often watch schools of barracuda, groups of squid and leopard sharks quietly going about their business.

Koh Si offers some excellent snorkeling with its shallow coral filled waters. The water here has superb visibility allowing you to enjoy perfect views of snapper, grouper, seahorses, scorpion fish and sometimes the notoriously shy black-tip reef shark.

Koh Yeadon is famous for a long 'swim-through' area, but it is only recommended for experienced divers due to the limited visibility and strong currents. Because there are fewer divers in this area, you will spot large schools of fish, including grouper. You can also watch an exotic display of other colorful sea creatures such as lobsters and sting rays.

Koh Dor is a perfect place to dive or snorkel, especially in the afternoon when black-tip reef shark often make a fleeting appearance. The waters here are brimming with an amazing variety of corals and sponges.

Koh Talu is ideal for both beginners and experienced divers alike. Here you can dive amongst large barracuda and mantis shrimp and explore the spectacular coral.

The waters around GK Island contain a huge coral reef with many sea whips around it. You may also come across fusiliers and even a random sea snake during a dive here.

Koh Yawasam is the perfect place to view rare anemone fish. Koh Yawasam boasts huge expanses of coral, flat sand banks and deep water, also making it an ideal place to learn.

Also close to Ao Nang is Koh Dam, actually two incredible Islands joined by an intriguing coral reef that presents an amazing dive experience.

Other great places to try diving in Krabi are:

Hin Daeng and Hin Muang – here more experienced divers can explore dramatic rock formations and spot whale sharks and manta rays.

Koh Rok Nok are two absolutely stunning islands that lie in a protected marine park – the waters here are rich and plentiful in sea life and offer outstanding visibility.

The picture perfect Phi Phi Islands, made famous by the film 'The Beach', offer such a multitude of premium dive and snorkeling sites that you can be kept busy the entire holiday!

A convenient and exciting way to explore these islands and dive sites is to book a package trip that includes transport by speed boat and usually lunch and refreshments.

Where to stay

There is a huge choice of budget hostels, ideal for backpackers and a great choice of hotels in Krabi. If you want luxury accommodation, then the fabulous Krabi resorts will not disappoint.

Renting a Thai holiday villa is an excellent option for those planning a dive holiday with a large group. Krabi vacation villas tend to offer more space and more economic than a hotel or resort. If you want to truly relax after the physical challenges of diving, then opt for a serviced villa. These give all the regular services of a hotel, such as room cleaning, catering, massage and beauty treatments and even excursion and dive trip booking.

Lastly, before you set off to enjoy the world-famous diving in Krabi, do not forget to check that your travel insurance policy covers your Thai holiday for diving and snorkeling activities!

Take the Lead

Why do you not take the lead? What stops you from taking charge of your life and business? What can you do about it?

We hear from the day we where we born that we should not stick out, we must be like everyone else. We must be normal.

What does it mean, that word, normal? What is normal anyway and who decide what is normal?

John Milton Fogg once said in a discussion on the greatest networker forum, that he wished he never became normal and I totally agree, because if you are and like like everyone else, you get what everyone else gets.

So the fact that we are spoon fed to be normal is one of the causes for us not to take the lead.

A main reason that stops us from charge on and takes the lead is the kind of people we surround us with. For us to change it will be much easier if we choose people to associate with that are more towards the change we wish to make.

In this case you want to take the lead and there before you need to surround yourself with leaders. Seek out people that are already doing what you want to do. See what they are doing, learn and practice what you learn.

Start right now, and do not wait for better times, because it is you that create your own better future.

You should live by the quote: "take the lead, follow, or get out of my way".

'What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.' ~ Johan Wolfgang von Goethe

So remember, what ever you do, you will change, it is your choice to change to the same or to a leader that take the lead.

See you at the top.

When to List Your Item For Sale on eBay

If you think listing an item at anytime of day will make your listing equally as successful, think again. What may be convenient for you, say 4:00 pm on a weekday when you're not in classes, or at work, may not be ideal for someone else. eBay's listings end on 24 hour intervals, no matter what time of day you start them on. So if you listed an item to begin at 4:00 pm CST, that would be 2:00 pm on the west coast (when generally people are not home on a given weekday). So if you want to discourage bidders say in California or British Columbia from bidding, I would not suggest listing an item as this time.

Never use a 1-day listing unless you want to sell something that is time sensitive, such as concert tickets at the last minute for example. You also have to be an established member of the eBay community to even have the option to serve a 1-day listing. Typically, when do most people have the greatest amount of spare time? On the weekends. Choose to list your items based upon the schedule of society.

Typically, the most successful listing times for me have been as follows:

Thursday night between 6:00 and 8:00 CST. (3-day listing)

Sunday night between 8:00 and 9:00 CST. (3-day listing)

Here's why I've found these times to be best. If you start an auction on a Thursday night and it's a 3-day listing, it will end on Sunday night (eBay's busiest time). This is when there are the most users on the site and you'll be able to take advantage of the sniping bidders (bidders that bid at the very last second).
My second choice for listing an item falls on a Sunday night – again, a 3-day listing. The auction will close on Wednesday night and according to eBay, this is the second busiest day of the week for bidders. If you can manage to have your listing end on the most high-traffic days, you'll have more exposure for the listing, and a higher chance of receiving a greater value for your product.

You also do not have to hang around your computer waiting to list an item at a specific time. There is automated software out there which you can download for free that schedules to start your listing for you based on the time and day you input.

I'd recommend using as opposed to The reason is, if you live in Canada, the selling fees are in Canadian funds, not American. Therefore, you have a better understanding of how much you're spending to list the item and how much you're going to bring in without running to a calculator to figure out an exchange rate. The same goes for different countries as eBay has a specific site for every one of you. being for United States residents of course. If you can keep it simplified, do it.

Good luck!

Gods of Gambling

People like to gamble, they place bets to have fun or to earn extra cash. When they feel lucky or when someone is watching over them, they simply want to take a chance, to prove that fortune smiles on them, and betting / gambling is no exception.

Praying to God for a team to win a specific game in order for you to win a bet is more or less selfish when there are still so many bad things in the world. But what about those ancient gods of the past, people believed in them and prayed to them for fortune. The different mythologies of the world reveal powerful deities that rule over the world of gambling. Here are some of the gods that can influence the outcome of a football match in our favor:

Hermes is the Greek god of gambling, profit, hazard, and gaming. Hermes was the winged messenger of the gods. He was the god of flocks, road, trading, commerce, thieves. He is also known as Mercury in Roman Mythology. His father is Zeus, the ruler of the Greek gods.

Thoth is the Egyptian god of gambling. He had the same attributes like the Greek god, Hermes. He is the creator of magic, the inventor of writing, the messenger of the gods and the divine record-keeper and mediator. According to myth, he earned 5 extra days by gambling with the moon (then known as Iabet) in a game of dice to help the sky goddess Nut to have her children.

Macuilxochitl, (five flowers, also called Xochipilli) is the Aztec god of gambling, music, dancing. He was the god of games, from board games (Patolli) to the Aztec version of football (Ullamaliztli). Typically represented as a god of fun and dancing, Xochipilli could also send venereal disease to anyone who violates abstentions by engaging in sexual intercourse.

Li-Nezha is the Chinese god of gambling. He is probably the only one of the Chinese Gods that can reveal the winning numbers in lottery. Li-Nezha is perhaps more well-known as Nataku or Nata from Japanese anime a half-mortal war god. In ancient times mortals worship him as a God of Lotteries and Gambling.

Lakshmi, is the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity and fortune. Lakshmi is the consort of the god Vishnu. Hindus believe that anyone who worships Lakshmi sincerely, and not in greed, will be blessed with fortune and success. After worshiping Lakshmi on Diwali, many Hindus gamble and spend profusely, believing that Lakshmi has bestowed good fortune upon them.

Nohoilpi – The gambling god of the Navajo. Also called "He Who Wins Men". He is a renegade son of the sun god Tsohanoai. He came down to Earth and taught his gambling games to the various tribes but soon abused his power by exceeding them at all his games of chance and collecting his wins by enslaving people to build a city to mark his glory. He was defeated at gambling by a Navajo man send by the other gods and was thrown into the sky.

Why Baby Showers Are Important

Is having a baby shower imperative? Well, no not technically, but it is important. Having a baby shower signifies the beginning of a new life, for you and your baby. If you or someone you know is having a baby, you should make sure a baby shower is in plan for the future.

Many expecting mothers do not want to "bury" their friends with having to host a baby shower in their honor, but the reality is throwing a baby shower should not (and is not) a burden, it should be an honor to throw a pregnant woman a shower, whether it be a first child, or 5th, the party will always be something that should be cherished.

The purpose of a baby shower is of course so the expecting mother can receive gifts (which is reason enough for the celebration) but also, having a shower hosted in your name is really something special that every pregnant woman needs. The depression that pregnancy can sometimes cause (because your body is changing, because you're hormonal, whatever the reason) can be significantly reduced when there is one day that is specifically designed to the pregnant woman.

As stated above, gifts are probably the main reason for hosting a "party" for the new mommy, and the reasons can differ slightly as to why this is important. Many new mothers do not have everything they need for the arrival for the new bundle of joy, or they do not have the money to get everything, or they just do not know exactly what they need, so the gifts they receive help immensely with the preparation for the new arrival.

There is no set rule as to whether or not there should be a baby shower for the "second" (or third third or fourth etc.) pregnancy. This is entirely up to you and the hostess of the party. Keep in mind, some woman have a girl first, and then they become pregnant with a boy, or some people do not have another child until 5-10 years after the first … either instance, chances are, the mother still does not 't have what she needs for her new baby. A baby shower is perfectly acceptable for any number of pregnancies.

Amazing Ways To Recharge Yourself

Are you tired and fed up? Do you want to let your hair down, get away from it all and have some fun, or do you simply want to relax because you are feeling the build up of pressure and stress? We all feel like this from time to time and this is when we need to down tools and take a break.

If you are the stay at home kind of person and are equipped to have a swimming pool and garden, then bingo, you have yourself an instant holiday! On the other hand, if you work from home, it's possible you need to get away to escape phone calls and interruptions. If you love to travel and finances allow, there is a whole world out there waiting to be explored. There are so many types of holidays it can be difficult to decide where to go and what to do sometimes.

You can enjoy the adrenaline rush on the roller coasters at Disneyland, visit Las Vegas, experience horse riding in the cowboy country in Arizona or take an exhilarating flight over the Grand Canyon.

You could explore the tropical rainforests and discover relics of mystifying civilizations in South America or maybe even hike along the Inca trail, past temple ruins and through dense cloud forests to Machu Picchu, which is located above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. On the other hand, you could simply relax on the beautiful beaches in Rio de Janeiro.

If you're looking for adventure you may choose to discover Borneo's luxuriant landscapes, its amazing display of exotic plant life and meet the native tribes. Hike to Mt Kinabalu's rocky summit, ride the rapids down the Padas River and take on the tricky Bario Loop.

To travel deep into the heartland of India on the trail of the magnificent Bengal tiger and visit the Taj Mahal and all its splendor or shop 'til you drop in Hong Kong could be amazing.

Australia has so much to offer their visitors. Fraser Island has unbelievable lush rainforests and the fantastic opportunity to enjoy whale-watching at Hervey Bay or go scuba-diving in the Great Barrier Reef, which can actually be seen from outer space and is known to be the world's largest single structure made by living organizations.

So, wherever you enjoy a picnic by the Eiffel tower, be serenaded on a gondola in Venice, Ride the London eye or millennium observation wheel or escape to a relaxing meditation retreat to completely unwind, I'm sure you will come back recharged, refreshed and ready to take on the world!
