What’s the Difference Between Amway and Shaklee?

Both are widely recognized names in the network marketing industry. Both companies have become big contenders in the household products, personal care and vitamin business. Both companies involve personal use of the products as well as not only selling them, but selling the opportunity as well.

So when asking the question, what’s the difference between Amway and Shaklee as far as the business opportunity; the Amway Corporation would be considered by most as the MLM king with more than 45 years in business in over 80 countries. Their products have numerous patents and are backed by extensive research as well as a 180 day guarantee. Many people would say that the company products are overpriced, but their customers are very loyal and continue with the business. Shaklee has been around for 50 years now and has more than 750,000 members and distributors. They created one of the first biodegradable household cleaners ever, and their vitamins contain natural and pure ingredients.

As an experienced marketer, who is not involved with either company, the advice I give would be not to ask the question what’s the difference between Amway and Shaklee? You should be asking yourself about the most effective way for you to market the business that you choose. Ask how can you get the results that you want, in a rapid way, without all the pains that can come with trying to recruit people into an MLM? You want to avoid all the family and friend rejection. You want to be able to make some decent money in your first 60 days.

So the real truth is that they are both great companies, very similar and you will not make a mistake in choosing either one. Mistakes can come if you don’t have the right information to build your business, and don’t go about it in the right way. This can be easily solved with a little MLM marketing help. What’s the difference between Amway and Shaklee is only the fine print, the small details that don’t really mean a thing in the long run. The difference between one companies vitamin and the others is not even worth the discussion. Your goal is health and success and both companies can offer this to you.

The Impact of Marketing in the Society – Can We Really Make a Difference?

Definitions

Marketing is generally thought of as the process of promoting goods and services to the end user. We can think of this as McDonald’s advertising its Big Mac in such a way that we feel that we really need one for lunch. This demonstrates the advertising piece of the marketing mix, and is the element that most people identify with marketing.

Society is generally defined as the condition in which members of a community live together for their mutual benefit. Societies are more than just the individual members that make up the group, but the sum of the collective. We are all members of a society, and interact with the other members in that community. So what is the impact of marketing in the society?

Negative Connotations of Marketing – They Made Me Do It

Ever since society passed from a Subsistence economy (I grow my own food, make my own clothes, and don’t need anyone else to help me) to a Trade economy (I’ll grow some food to sell to you, if you will make some clothes to sell to me) we have had the challenge of marketing our products and services to others (Uh-oh, now that there are two people making clothes in my town I’d better let people know why they should buy mine). And ever since that first sales pitch there have been criticisms of marketing; like deceptive practices, high prices, unsafe products, and high-pressure sales – to name a few.

But many critics go further and claim that marketing has created false wants, promoted materialism, produced cultural pollution, and allowed big companies to gain significant political power. And there is an element of truth to all of these claims. Companies that have not performed ethically have had a damaging effect in society that the ethical businesses must now work through.

And the Good?

But it is hard to deny the positives that marketing has brought upon society as well. The wealth of technology at our fingertips today is directly related to the sales of these items and the continued downward pricing caused by the promotion of computers, cell phones, GPS navigation systems, digital cameras, MP3 players, etc. Dozens and dozens of these types of products are commonplace today, but seemed like luxuries for the rich just a few years ago. In fact, most of the people below the poverty line in the US today live better than royalty did 200 years ago — with cars, heating and air conditioning, microwave ovens, cell phones, televisions, and other amenities now considered necessities.

More importantly, most medium to large companies now have significant charitable giving and service programs that donate large sums of money and time to needy organizations that make a difference in the lives of millions of people every year. Whether companies do this out of a pure heart or a need for positive publicity, the result is the same — and many of the neediest in society are better for it.

Doing the Right Thing

As the public grows more knowledgeable and educated, they hold businesses to a higher standard than was once the case. The abuses of workers that were common a century ago are not tolerated by society today. Now corporate ethics policies drive decisions in the boardroom and the marketing department so that the end user (that’s us) benefits in many ways. Doing the right thing is a good policy because people want to do business with someone they trust and respect. And the companies that are exposed as cheaters, liars, or abusers are generally shunned in the marketplace (Enron, anyone?).

The bottom line is that though there is a negative impact of marketing in the society, there is a positive to balance it out; and it is our job as society to reward the good guys with our purchases and punish the unethical companies by neglecting them in the marketplace. As we continue to do this over and over, we make Big Business aware that they will make money only if they honor their ethics policies and do the right thing on a consistent basis. In this way we can make a difference in the marketing tactics employed to sway our decisions. And that is a positive that we as a society can live with.

The Difference Between HVAC Certification and HVAC License

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians are skilled tradespersons that install heating and cooling systems. Additionally, they maintain and repair the system when problems arise. This may be in a residential setting or for commercial facilities. Those who work for a retailer are often responsible for selling service contracts to clients.

Types of Certification

Becoming HVAC certified will depend on the type of certification that you desire and the training that you have achieved. Since many people work in the field under a licensed HVAC person, they may have some experience before taking classes. Those who have over a year of experience in installation and at least 2 years in maintenance will have a wider choice when it comes to the type of HVAC certification they choose.

In order to become certified, the proper classes must be taken. Before doing so, a high school diploma or GED is required. This is required for admittance to most accredited HVAC training programs. These programs offer classes in the installation and repair of HVAC as well as reading blueprints, temperature control, construction and equipment design. The programs are available at various schools and colleges as well as online.

The programs are generally from six months to two years and depending on the length of the course, upon successful completion, the student will receive a certificate or an associate’s degree. There are also opportunities available for those who join the Armed Forces to receive specialized training in the HVAC field.

Licensing

After completing the training program successfully, earning a certification or a degree, sitting for the HVAC licensing exam will be required by most states to work in this field. The licensing exam will differ somewhat from one location to another. The main consideration is the knowledge of all the aspects of installation and repair of HVAC systems. In addition, some licensing exams require the applicant to know electrical codes.

If the career chosen will include working with refrigerants, a separate certification is needed for this field. This includes high and low-pressure refrigerants and servicing small appliances. When this career is chosen at an early age, usually while in high school, it is beneficial to take classes that can help in preparing the student for the classes they will take next. The basic recommendations are mathematics, physics, electronics and mechanical drawing.

There are additional licenses needed if the HVAC career will include contractor services. This is often a career that is chosen after learning the other aspects of HVAC. The qualifications to apply for a license as an HVAC contractor include being at least 18 years of age, speaking and reading the English language and four years of verifiable experience in warm heating.

If the applicant meets these qualifications, they must take an ICC examination. The International Code Council (ICC) develops these exams and they are in charge of giving them for many states. They are given at approved testing sites across the nation and are required for anyone that represents themselves in any way as an HVAC contractor.

As seen, the HVAC career is quite diverse. It can include various aspects of this profession, each having their own requirements and licenses.

The Difference Between a Casio Baby-G and a Casio G Shock Watch

Are you looking for the perfect watch that can stand up to your tough lifestyle? There are two that come to mind: the Casio Baby-G and the Casio G shock. These two watches are remarkably similar. They are both tough and durable. They can withstand large falls and impacts that other watches would crumble under. They can both be used in water, and they both have sleek designs that set them apart from other watches.

Their similarities make sense, though. After all, the Baby-G is just a smaller version of the G shock. Despite their similarities, however, there are a few unique differences you should consider before you decide to make a purchase.

Analyzing the Differences

  • Men vs. Women – One of the biggest differences between these two watches is that the G shock is made for men, and the Baby-G is made for women. The sizes of the straps and the watch’s face are different because of this. The Baby-G’s face is generally about the same in length, but it is usually not as deep as the men’s version of the watch.
  • Water Resistance – A G shock watch is generally (although not always) water resistant for up to 200 meters. While some Baby-G’s are as well, many are only resistant for up to 100 meters. Unless your favourite activity is snorkelling or deep sea diving, however, this should not be a problem.
  • Colour – The men’s version of this watch generally comes in very few colours, like black, red, silver, gray, and white. The women’s version, however, is much more colourful. You can find these watches in red, pink, green, white, purple, black, blue, and silver. This allows women to pick and choose different and vibrant colours to match any outfit they put on.

What do These Watches Have in Common?

Aside from their sleek look and unmatchable durability, these two watch styles have several features in common, including:

  • Temperature resistance – Some of the watches can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
  • Electro-luminescent backlight – The backlight on these two types of watches allows you to enjoy them anytime- no matter what time of day it is.
  • Auto-Calendar – These Casio watches are programmed so you will not only know the time, but the date as well. While the number of years the auto-calendar is programmed until will vary, depending on the exact version you purchase, some are programmed all the way until 2099.
  • Long Battery Life – The Casio G shock and Baby-G both come with long-lasting batteries. You can use these watches for up to two years before you need to replace them.
  • Stopwatch – Are you in training or simply trying to lose weight? These watches can help with one hour countdown timers, complete with an auto-repeat option, and a one hour stopwatch.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you are going to enjoy all of the unique features available to you from Casio’s line of G shock watches. If you are a woman, you can enjoy the traditional G shock gives a masculine flair and has all the bells and whistles you need, and if you are a woman, you can enjoy all the same great features, but with a more feminine and colourful accessory.

The Difference Between Pave And Bead Set Rings

Folks confuse “pave” with “bead set” all the time. There is a reason for that. Let me make one vital point right off the top of the answer. This part you may not have thought about. Manufacturers spend time in designs and working out the details for each and every piece of jewelry they produce. In almost all cases, the manufacturer holds a copyright on the design. The copyright is a legal protection against another company making “knock-offs” or duplicates of their work and selling the duplicates.

The confusion is in the words used.”Bead setting” is a particular form of setting stones into metal. Pave is more of a design of the set stones and bead setting is the technique for setting stones in a pave pattern.

The bead setting is the technique. Pave is the pattern. A single mans ring may have a bead set stone in the center. The stone is bead set but the work is not pave. Think of pave as you would a cobble stone street or brick after brick, literally paved with bricks. In pave the idea is to “pave” the surface with stones..that is pave. Bead setting is the method to hold the stones in place.

The ring may or may not be bead set. And this is not pave. Pave in the strict sense covers an expanded area and not just one row of stones. That does not matter. Really, the name does not matter if this ring is the look you want. I suspect the setting is cast with raised prong-like parts to make the setting easier than actual bead setting.

That is fine when done correctly and better than bead setting if the bead setting is done in less than the best manner. Bead setting can provide the same look but is more labor intensive to do correctly.

In bead setting, a sharp chisel-like tool called a graver is used to set the stones. First, a seat or hole for the stone is cut into the metal. Then the graver is pushed down into the metal just to the outside of the stone. The point of the graver makes metal move toward the stone. This process is repeated until all the stone is secure with enough metal over the “corners” to hold securely.

Then a tool with a rounded hollow end called a beading tool is pressed onto the metal pressed onto the stone. The beading tool makes the metal form into an attractive looking “bead” of metal. Now you can see where the term “bead set” originates.

Now, here is a question to ponder. How can the ring be made for less cost to you than the ready made one? Considering the prices we must charge to make molds, do castings and set stones for one item only, the price would be at least if not more than the one offered by the maker originally. We do not make copies of copyright designs but do enough custom manufacturing to know our real costs of doing a single ring or other jewelry item.

The only way I see the ring being less costly if the jeweler makes it is to use lower quality stones, less stones perhaps or lower karat of gold. The ring made up may also be of a much less favorable manufactured quality than the original ring, a means to cut costs. If we tried to duplicate the ring you showed, using 14k instead of the 19k used, our price to the customer for equal or better technical quality would still be more than some of the other makers rings.

Labor for doing a single ring is the reason and stone setting costs incurred. Our jewelers do all the work and we do not have specialized persons doing only stone setting as do large manufacturers.

Suggestion: Look closely at the rings or jewelry made by the jeweler with whom you have conferred. How well done is the work? Is all neat and clean to the eye? Ask about stone quality, etc. Do you want a product as fine as the original or a step below, or better? These are thoughts to consider seriously. I tell it just like I see it; that is only fair to you.

I don’t want to scare you about copyrights. Maybe this will help. To directly copy another’s design is infringement of the copyright. To choose a “similar style” generally is not infringement. For instance, many makers of jewelry make rings with stones set side by side along a row in a ladies ring. A ring with stones set like this and with decorative sides made up by your jeweler but not a direct copy should not be a problem with copyright.

A ready made mounting for rows of stones may be available(unset with stones) which will be perfectly fine for you. This is an option I did not mention at first. If a ready made mounting can be found with the look you want, the job will likely be less costly than having a ring made from scratch.

The Difference Between Positive and Negative Gearing and Generating Cash-Flow

In real estate terms, the word "geared" is used to describe when loans are used to buy shares or properties. Gearing can be positive or negative depending on the income that is generated from the property. Negative contracting is when income from either dividends or rent does not generate enough income to make payments on interests. And positive geared is when the property generates some sort of an awareness. Another terminology to be familiar with is cash-flow, which is what you earn or lose from an investment in a property. Do not let the "negative gearing" and "positive cash-flow" confuse you. Keep reading to better understand the different terminologies and how to evaluate them in various situations.

Think of negative geared as what you¡¯re losing each month in cash to cover any expenses on your investment property. Therefore, on paper you are seeing that you're investing more out-of-pocket cash to cover expenses for that property. The costs associated with property ownership and the legalities around what you may claim will differ depending on the country in which you stay. Do not stress out! Just know that you can lose cash each month (negative geared) while still generating cash-flow. Yes, it's true! You may just be looking at a smaller profit margin, that's all.

And of course, you would have already predicted that positive gearing also yields a positive cash-flow. If you're not spending any out-of-pocket money then any money that the property generates would be considered a profit. It's a win-win situation. You can not, however, have a negative cash-flow and positive borrowing because in the cash of a negative cash-flow, where you're losing money (real cash) on a monthly basis. In other worse, your property is not generating any real income for you. Again, do not stress out yet. You can still recover some of the losses through a write-off. You have to think of your investment as a long-term investment. There will be periods where there will be no return on your investment, but over the length of the long-term investment, you will have made some profit. Just make sure that you have some cash-flow to support the property through the long-term investment period should there be times when it's not generating any income. This will ensure that your investment is more worthy over time.

The Difference Between Monoblock Wheels and 3 Piece Forged Wheels

In the wheel industry monoblock and 3 piece are two of the most popular types of forged wheels. The terms “monoblock” and “3 piece” refer to the construction of the wheel, but the similarities end there. In fact, there are many differences between the two types that make each ideal for different kinds of automotive applications.

Monoblock wheelsare also referred to as “one-piece” wheels, meaning that they are forged into a single part without any removable components. During the manufacturing process a monoblock wheel begins as a single, round block of 6061-T1 aluminum alloy. The aluminum block is compressed and subjected to intense heat which creates a dense grain structure and forms a round, blank piece of metal. The single piece of aluminum alloy is then flow-formed and placed in a CNC milling machine where the spokes are formed to finish the manufacturing process.

Being that monoblocks are made from a single piece of aluminum alloy, they are the lightest of forged wheels. Their low weight is sought after as they help to reduce unsprung mass which can reduce acceleration times, enhance braking, and improve handling. Monoblock wheels are often less expensive than their 2- or 3-piece forged counterparts, as fewer parts are used for construction. However, if a monoblock wheel is damaged or bent they are difficult to repair, often requiring a complete wheel replacement.

3 piece forged wheels offer different advantages over monoblocks, mostly from a styling standpoint. A 3 piece wheel has three main parts: a center, the outer hoop or “lip”, and the inner hoop. The manufacturing process of 3 piece wheels is similar to that of a monoblock, except more aluminum alloy blocks are used due to the increased number of parts. After all of the pieces are milled, they are fastened together using a number of perimeter bolts and sealed using Silicone RTV.

The construction of 3 piece forged wheels allows manufacturers the ability to offer a wider range of widths and fitments for customers. 3 piece wheels are also the most customizable as any of the components can be easily painted or chromed to create a unique color scheme. If they sustain any damage it can be readily replaced. In addition, 3 piece forged wheels retain the highest resale value amongst used wheels. 3 piece wheels are not without their disadvantages. They are the most expensive forged wheels because of their multi-piece manufacturing, and if the RTV Silicone seal is broken, leaks can form.

Google AdWords Vs Google AdSense – Do You Know the Difference?

Google AdWords can very easily be mixed up with Google AdSense and if you are not an internet marketer, they can be very difficult to tell apart. In fact, on my first attempt at online marketing, I just thought they were two Google products that were ridiculously similar! However, there was one thing that I kept hearing people say and that was that they were both useful in making easy money!

So, I hear you ask – What is the difference between Google AdWords and AdSense?

I will make it as simple as I have come to understand it. Google AdWords are advertisements in the Google search engine that are listed under 'Sponsored Links'. You will find this at the top right of your Google page or above the free, organic search results. So, if you've ever looked at the sponsored list heads and thought – "How do those people get their product / site up there?" The answer is they have an account with Google AdWords and now they are reaping the benefits by driving tons of traffic to their site and having an increased presence online.

Do not get me wrong, having your Google ad for all to see is not free and Google does charge you a small fee for the privilege, if it did not, everyone would be up there and that poor right hand corner would be coming down with ads! However, if used wisely and with the right keywords in your ad, you are guaranteed to make your money back and severely increase your profits. In fact, Google AdWords is seen as one of the most powerful ways to take you from zero sales to hero sales in the shortest time and with the least effort.

More importantly, you only have to pay Google when someone actually clicks on your ad, this is the fairest way to do business rather than paying Google a set amount and getting no traffic or sales anyway. In this way, it is a reliable and honest system. My advice is to find expert information about AdWords online, take a day to familiarize yourself with that knowledge and then your business is set for success.

Now let's get comfortable with Google AdSense. This is nothing like Google AdWords, surprisingly it works the opposite way, that is, Google pay you! In simple terms, if you have a site or blog and want to earn extra cash, you place a Google ad on your site. This is not your product, it is theirs and you will give them free advertising and promotion by putting it out there. In return, you get money when someone clicks on it. This is a great tool for fast cash but is not a long term business plan. If you are just blogging for fun or have a small product site it is ideal but it's not going to get you a second home in France right away! Google AdWords, on the other hand, is designed for those of you who are more serious about business and need a long term strategy to drive traffic and sales to your site. It is absolutely one of the quickest routes to success.

Difference Between General Contractor and Remodeling Contractor

If you are thinking of improving your home with the help of home improvement service providers, you have to keep in mind that one professional may offer a different line of services than another. There are those companies that specialize in interior designing for commercial buildings and there are those that have full-service offers in handyman services.

While there is a wide array of services that you can consider for your humble abode, two kinds of professionals are highly demanded in the market these days because of the growing need of homeowners when it comes to home improvement needs. Right before you hire a service provider who is professional enough in updating and reviving the glow of your home, you have to take into good consideration the difference between a professional service provider and a remodeling contractor.

A general contractor is one kind of professional that you can hire if there is a need for several specialists to take care of your home improvement needs. He is the person responsible in supervising the project and assuring that the tasks involved to complete the project are appropriate for the scheduled time.

Furthermore, he makes it a point that the entire project is suitable for the budget you have agreed upon. There are times when this kind of service provider will not be the one to do the work in improving your home. He takes care of the hiring of specialists or subcontractors who will be the point of contact in the necessary duties of the project.

Remodeling Contractor

This type of service provider is a team of professionals who specializes in renovating and remodeling different parts of a house. They are the ones who hire electricians, interior designers, handymen, architects, and any other pertinent specialists who can take good care of your home improvement needs.

There is a different between an entity that focuses on remodeling and one that is commonly referred to as a professional service provider. A remodeling contractor has the tendency to offer various services that a professional service provider does not usually offer to homeowners.

One good advantage of hiring this kind of contractor is the inclusive warranties that they offer to their client. If you are about to decide on which kind of contractor you want to work with in improving your house, it is always best to determine your needs so that you will be able to hire the most effective professionals for your project.

Cheap Mobile Mysteries – What is the Difference Between Talk Time and Standby Time?

Capacity of cell-phone batteries?

There are lot of mobile phones today which possesses large capacity and give a lot of cushion to mobile phone users to charge their mobile batteries by taking time. They can give a standby time of almost 20 12-15 hours, though it varies at times depending on the capabilities of a phone. For example cell phones having camera, mp3 player would have low capacity than the ordinary ones. Capacity of cell phone batteries are measured either in terms of standby time or a talk time.

Lifespan in terms of Talk time and standby time?

The lifespan of cell phone batteries are measured in terms of talking duration and standby battery life. They both are essential because talk battery life is obviously a important factor, as mobile phone has been made to communicate with each other, so the talking duration is essential. The more the talk time will be the more its standby battery life will be. That’s why the capacity of cell phone batteries are measured in both terms of talking duration and standby time.

Talk time? What is it?

When you are in the conversation with any contact, it takes the energy of mobile phone battery double of what normal energy is. So that talk time takes more energy and it is essential for a good cell phone to give more and more talk battery life for a user. The talking duration given by a average phone is about 5-6 hours. It depends on the functions of the mobile phone again.

A good talk time is about 5-6 hours, if the cell phone battery is giving less than that it means it has a bad talking duration, and is not enough for the mobile phone user, every time he has to charge his mobile phone quite often which is not good for the life of cell phone battery as well.

Stand by time? What is it?

The overall time that a cell phone battery gives is stand by time. It includes all normal functions and operations of mobile phones like messaging, gaming, or it may be kept without using. Even though it takes energy from the battery and has a time frame which not lasts long for more than 12-15 hours. It is not necessary that if you are using your phone then it will spend it’s energy quickly, it also spends if you kept it with yourself without even touching it.

A good standby battery life is about 12-15 hours. If the phone battery is giving less time than that it means it is not giving a good standby time.
