Advantages and Disadvantages of Cordless Power Tools

Cordless power tools have been a raging success in the last few years and they have given traditional tools a run for their money. That’s how technology works; something better gets introduced and replaces the older form, completely or partially. But every latest product isn’t always the best, sometimes it works for you and sometimes it doesn’t. Here are the key benefits and drawbacks of tools:

MAJOR ADVANTAGES OF CORDLESS TOOLS

There are few areas where cordless power tools beat traditional tools handily:

Convenience

Lack of physical cords and the light weight enable manufacturers to achieve a more ergonomic and compact design that in turn allows for extra cushion of convenience.

Portability

Because of a compact design and absence of electrical cords, cordless power tools are a lot more portable than their counterparts as you can easily tuck them into your bags.

No Need of Power Outlet

One of the major advantages of cordless tools is that they use Lithium batteries for operation so you don’t need a power source. For the same reason tools can be of great use in remote areas where power is not available.

Safety

As there are no physical cords, there is a lesser chance of operator or any other person at the job site to trip over and fall. Besides, lack of physical cords also lessens the risk of electrocution.

MAJOR DRAWBACKS OF CORDLESS TOOLS

Now let’s take a closer look at the disadvantages of tools:

Expensive

Cordless tools use the latest technology and more often than not modern technology is relatively expensive as OEMs are trying to cover their Research and Development costs which is quite understandable. So, if there is a traditional power tool and a cordless power tool and both do the same thing then most probably the cordless one will have a steeper price tag.

Less Reliable

Traditional tools are being manufactured for decades; hence, the engineering involved in the manufacturing of traditional power tools is far more reliable and time tested. On the other hand, manufacturing procedures and engineering of cordless tools are still in their infancy and need time to achieve the same level of perfection. That’s why tools are more prone to defects and damages when compared to the tools with cord. Besides, you can always plug in the cord of a traditional power tool and expect it to work, but the same can’t be said about cordless power tools as one may forget to recharge the battery. If you are working with a cordless power tool you must remember to recharge your battery after every project.

Less Powerful

Although it’s not that big of an issue for a casual consumer, the lack of heavy duty performance may become a deal breaker for a professional or someone who demands extra power. Cordless tools are usually fine for light to medium work; however, they are not suitable and powerful enough to perform heavy tasks. If you are a casual hobbyist who would be using his tool mostly for home projects, then there is nothing to worry about as tools will do the job handily. However, if you are a professional who does heavy tasks regularly, cordless power tools wouldn’t prove to be a right option.

A Sip of Cuban Coffee Is the Best Way to Jump-Start Your Sleepy Morning

Ever since the five-day working week was established, it has been our tradition to hold fetes whenever we can during Sundays. Sometimes we party too hard into the early morn and drive to the office with a heavy, sleepy head. For many folks, this has been a routine. A very dangerous one at that.

The Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine published a study last February, 2010 detailing the great dangers that come with sleepiness at the wheel. Sleep deprivation leads to reduced motor function and results to impaired hand-eye coordination. So a dopey driver is really putting his life and those of others at risk just like a drunk driver would.

Luckily there are quick solutions that die-hard Sunday party fanatics can avail of to recharge their sleepy heads before driving to work. There is, for instance, that good old cup of coffee. A single cup of conventional coffee, though, would not be amiable to some people who have acquired high tolerance levels of caffeine through years of voracious coffee drinking.

If you are one of those who need more than a cup of regular coffee to get yourself going, then you might probably consider shifting to a more aggressive type like Cuban coffee.

Basically it is espresso made the Cuban way. Espresso is among the strongest forms of coffee. Cuban coffee, though, packs a lot more caffeine than regular espresso. Enthusiasts say that one cup of Cuban coffee is equivalent to two cups of ordinary American espresso. So don’t be surprised if you will get a tremendous rush of caffeine upon taking a sip of cafe Cubano.

How can a tiny cup of coffee posses so much potency? The secret lies in its brewing. Cuban coffee needs to be brewed using an espresso machine. It undergoes pressurized brewing wherein hot water is literally forced through the ground beans. The process results in a concoction that has a much fuller flavor and higher concentration of coffee compounds.

Possessing an espresso machine, however, is not a guarantee that you will make good cafe Cubano. For one thing, you need to procure quality Cuban coffee beans to lend an authentic Cubano flavor to your concoction. You also need to make sure that your beans are roasted properly. Over-roasted beans would give your coffee a burnt taste. So take proper precautions in ensuring that you roast the beans the right way. Another factor to take note of is the consistency of the ground beans. The espresso machine, however high-tech and expensive it is, would not yield a great brew unless your Cuban beans are not finely grounded.

The final and most important factor in creating great Cuban coffee is patience. Lots of patience-most particularly in honing your brewing technique. But the effort is all worth it. After all, you would not worry about sluggishly driving your way to work with a sip of home-made cafe Cubano every morning.

Dangers of Mobile Phone to Students of Secondary School

Secondary school is a term used to describe an educational institution where the final stage of schooling, known as secondary education and usually compulsory up to a specified age, takes place. It follows elementary or primary education, and may be followed by university (tertiary) education.

There are many different types of secondary school, and the terminology used varies around the world. Children usually transfer to secondary school between the ages of 10 and 16 years, and finish between the ages of 15 and 19 years, though there is considerable variation from country to country.

Depending on the system, schools for this period or a part of it may be called secondary schools, high schools, gymnasia, lyceums, middle schools, colleges, vocational schools and preparatory schools, and the exact meaning of any of these varies between the systems.

The secondary school students are those students of post-primary studies or as described above. It is at this stage of academics that students lay the foundation of their future. No matter what the student wants to be in life, the way is paved at this stage that is why most errors which are not corrected in secondary school lives with most students till the rest of their lives. Building people with global passion are deeply rooted in this stage of education.

A mobile phone (also called mobile, cellular telephone, or cell phone) is an electronic device used for two-way radio telecommunication over a cellular network of base stations known as cell sites. Mobile phones differ from cordless telephones, which only offer telephone service within limited range through a single base station attached to a fixed land line, for example within a home or an office.

A mobile phone allows its user to make and receive telephone calls to and from the public telephone network which includes other mobiles and fixed-line phones across the world. It does this by connecting to a cellular network owned by a mobile network operator. A key feature of the cellular network is that it enables seamless telephone calls even when the user is moving around wide areas via a process known as handoff or handover.

In addition to being a telephone, modern mobile phones also support many additional services, and accessories, such as SMS (or text) messages, e-mail, Internet access, gaming, Bluetooth and infrared short range wireless communication, camera, MMS messaging, MP3 player, radio and GPS. Low-end mobile phones are often referred to as feature phones, whereas high-end mobile phones that offer more advanced computing ability are referred to as smart phones.

The first hand held mobile phone was demonstrated by Dr. Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973, using a handset weighing 2 kg (4.4 lb). Motorola released the first commercially available mobile phone, the DynaTAC 8000x in 1983. In the year 1990, 12.4 million people worldwide had cellular subscriptions. By the end of 2009, less than 20 years later, the number of mobile cellular subscriptions worldwide reached approximately 4.6 billion, 370 times the 1990 number, penetrating the developing economies and reaching the bottom of the economic pyramid.

Mobile phone has been an effective means of communication which has solved a lot of problems and poses a lot. It is mobile as the name, you can walk around with it play with it, sleep with it, travel with it and can equally go into the rest room with it. I see it as an important means of communication which has helped in many ways including times of danger, but is this seen among the students of secondary schools these days? The answer is NO! The mobile phone instead of doing well to this young generation or the called “future leader” it has caused a lot of harm to these upcoming geniuses. The questions now is, is it advisable for secondary school students to own a mobile phone? I mean students owning a mobile phone and not making use of mobile phone. Several reasons have been listed below why students of secondary should not own a mobile phone.

SIDE EFFECTS OF OWNING A PHONE BY STUDENTS:

HEALTH HAZARDS:

Over the past decade the world has seen rapid growth in cell phone users. Everyone from older adults to kids in high school seem to carry one glued to their ears, without understanding the possible health risks associated with the use of cellular telephones.

To begin with, a recent scientific journal published in 2007 titled Long term use of cellular phones and brain tumors, concluded after assessing results from many different studies that use of cell phones for more then 10 years does show increased risk for acoustic neuroma and glioma. Adding that the risk is highest for ipsilateral exposure, meaning tumor on the same side of the brain where phone mostly held.

Research scientists behind this journal assert that most studies to date on cell phone use and brain tumors have been mostly conducted with an insufficiently long latency period. This journal report gives excellent reviews of other studies and evidence of data entry errors, systematic bias and mathematical errors within those studies.

The effect mobile phone radiation has on human health is the subject of recent interest and study, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage throughout the world (as of June 2009, there were more than 4.3 billion users worldwide. Mobile phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range, which some believe may be harmful to human health. A large body of research exists, both epidemiological and experimental, in non-human animals and in humans, of which the majority shows no definite causative relationship between exposure to mobile phones and harmful biological effects in humans. This is often paraphrased simply as the balance of evidence showing no harm to humans from mobile phones, although a significant number of individual studies do suggest such a relationship, or are inconclusive. Other digital wireless systems, such as data communication networks, produce similar radiation.

The World Health Organization, based upon the majority view of scientific and medical communities, has stated that cancer is unlikely to be caused by cellular phones or their base stations and that reviews have found no convincing evidence for other health effects. The WHO expects to make recommendations about mobile phones in 2010. Some national radiation advisory authorities have recommended measures to minimize exposure to their citizens as a precautionary approach.

At least some recent studies, however, have found an association between cell phone use and certain kinds of brain and salivary gland tumors. Lennart Hardell and other authors of a 2009 meta-analysis of 11 studies from peer-reviewed journals concluded that cell phone usage for at least ten years “approximately doubles the risk of being diagnosed with a brain tumor on the same (“ipsilateral”) side of the head as that preferred for cell phone use.”

ACADEMIC DISTRACTIONS:

Some students have the habit of keeping their mobile phones on during classes and studies, even in the library. The do so for their classmates to know their latest ringing tones, thereby distracting other students, even the teacher in the class. Some even put it in vibration and are distracted by the vibration from calls during classes and school hours, diverting their concentration on who is calling at the moment.

This “mobile phone” with different memory capacity is used to download and store several music of different lyrics and tones. The songs are being listened every now and then with the use of earpiece in the school and at home forgetting their academic work which is supposed to be their priority. Some even play these songs in the class, distracting the serious and minded students, while the constant use of the earpiece makes it difficult for some of them to understand conversations with low tones, and shout while talking with the aim to be heard. The academic distraction is getting worse by the day because those that don’t own a mobile phone are eager to get one. Once a student brings a book to study, and a call comes, that is the end of the study after the call, because their concentration will be on the call answered.

One of the several factors that that have distracted these upcoming leaders of our generation has a lot to do with mobile phones. Most students spend hours playing different games in the phone namely real football games, soccer games, snakezia, car race, puzzle games etc. They enjoy these games to an extent of neglecting their academic work, assignments, homework etc. They even discuss these games at school encouraging others how interesting the games were, storing games in the memory instead of their studies. Analysis of performing an art/creative work and playing mobile phone games in twenty-nine secondary schools revealed that 50% can play mobile phone games very well, 27% can do their art/creativity work well while 23% can neither do the art/creative work nor play games well. In order words, the academic works suffers it most.

COST:

The cost of purchasing a mobile phone is expensive to students of secondary schools that have little or no earning source. Most of them prefer buying phones with their school fees to paying it. When this mobile phone is bought, the student has to recharge it and make calls, send text messages, browse and download some files. All these things are money which can be used for their academic pursuit and/or other essential and important things. The cost of repairing and replacing damaged/lost ones are not left out, because, the fact remains that once a student has started using phones, it must be repaired or replaced when damaged or lost. Check the cost of recharging a mobile phone daily for one month, not to talk of a year. All these are unnecessary expenses for students that are being trained by someone.

NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR IN CHILDREN:

Once a child (student) started using a mobile phone, the numbers will be distributed to different kinds of people who will call and the student will receive. Most of these phones are multi-media in nature such that they download and watch all sorts of pornographic pictures and movies, which curiosity will allow them practice and know what it is all about.

Once a student started using mobile phone, it is an alert for opposite sex that he/she is ripe for sexual relationship. Naturally, there people who cannot speak to their mates face-to-face, using mobile phone becomes a good medium to express their feelings. Most of these students’ calls and messages are all about “I love you, crazy about you, miss you and the likes of it” once a new “love” is found, it takes almost everything in the person, e.g. the thinking, sleepless nights, even financial spending. For some, the phone is the used for formalize arrangements and appointments. With their phones, they know and observe all the happenings in the town like parties, night clubs etc.

Telling lies has become a common thing to students with their mobile phones. Imagine a student in another place for days, told the parents that she went on excursion, which resulted to pregnancy after some months, forgetting that “all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire that burns with brimstone” according to biblical injunction. Some of them are too proud of themselves when they have expensive phones with them, not knowing that “pride goes before a fall” some practice stealing in collaboration with lie to buy/ replace their phones. Some other atrocities like kidnapping, stealing etc are being carried out by some students with their mobile phones.

Most students are unable to concentrate on their studies because of the free calls (night calls) from different networks. These calls start 12:30am and end 4:30-5:00am, and some students make these calls daily, how can they learn when they are dizzy or sleeping in the class? How can they be mentally balanced health wise when they don’t sleep normally like students? Some of them risk themselves making these calls outside the room because of the distractions to others in the same room. The hours spent in making these calls, if utilized, can make the student emerge the best in academic activities.

EXAM MALPRACTICE:

Most of the students don’t study again because of the points mentioned above; rather indulge in exam malpractice during internal and external examinations. Some make use of the calculator in the mobile phone, while others store some information in it. The worst of it is that others use it to send objective answers to those in the examination hall, which may not be correct at the end of the day. This can end the student’s career if caught, as exam malpractice is a punishable offense.

In summary, mobile phones have been of help because information is power. When a student is not informed, he/she will be deformed, and when deformed, the student cannot perform. I encourage students of secondary schools to make calls at phone boot, use their parents, family or relative’s communication device to communicate rather than owning one because the bad part of mobile phones to students are more than the good part. The earlier you look into this and analyze it, the better for you.

Impotence, Infertility, and Sterility (Part 2)

Excessive ejaculation is very detrimental to overall optimal male health. Sperm contains the elixir of life (vitality) and constant loss of this special elixir causes a man to age prematurely. His hair thins, balds and turns grey, his teeth begin to fall out, his hearing and sight becomes bad, he’s constantly fatigued or feeling lethargic, and prone to many sicknesses that claim his health.

Celibacy or temporary periods of sexual (or ejaculatory) fasting allows the spark plugs of the genitals to recharge (rejuvenate and revitalize), in addition to allowing sperm count and production to increase. Celibacy is also warranted to help heal from STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), which is the number one cause of chronic degeneracy of the male sex gland and reproductive system. Chronic sores, bumps, blisters, inflammation, discharges, and rashes debilitate the physical makeup of the male (and female) sex glands or organs and entire reproductive system and are greatly implicated in sterility and infertility.

Most STDs are contracted from recreational sex. God, Biblically speaking, instructed us to have “procreational” sex, but as hypocrites (to God) and loyal imps of the Adversary and his Matrix, we love to pursue and engage in recreational sex. Recreational sex is “wreck creational” (to wreck creation) and that’s exactly what we are and have been foolishly doing – WRECKING God’s creation, especially when you women and girls get pregnant and run to the butcher shop and get an abortion (infanticide), that many of us males are the cause (and financiers) of. I’ll cover abortions and miscarriages in detail in a future article. However, you pay a hidden price for these government-approved acts of legalized murder euphemistically called “abortion” that I will pull your coat tail to (expose, bring to light).

The Adversary’s Matrix keeps us ignorant and unconscious to our lower nature and manipulates us through the imbalances of our lower charkas, especially the root chakra (located at the genitals) and the sacral chakra (located under the belly button). Why do you think its high fashion today for women to wear shirts (blouses) that reveal their belly buttons? By all means am not I telling any woman to stop wearing blouses or even the most revealing clothes. Djehuty is pro freedom, liberation and choice. You do what you want to do. I’m just asking the question “do you know why you’re doing what you do?” Do you know the science behind your fashion, styles, and habits? Do you know why you are piercing your belly buttons today? Do you know what the metals (gold, silver) do to your energy (including your sexual energy) and your sacral chakra? I’m simply asking a question!

Concurring with Author Stewart A. Swerdlow, blatant sexuality is all around us, from fashion to media to everyday speech. This sexuality is a deep, bright red that essentially pulls on your sexual charkas and opens them up. Using color, tone, and archetype (or symbol), these sexual chakras are systematically opened, fed, and energized, expanding them out of proportion until they have control over you. Then you are controlled and manipulated through these chakras.” But when certain people like myself suggest the use of earth’s crystals and gemstones that are naturally red in color and substance which balances and protects the sexual charkas, I’m called a diviner or a practitioner of divination, an occultist, etc.

Your religious leaders and institutions and the public fool (school) system have failed to teach you the metaphysics and metaphysical aspects of life that the Adversary uses against you. Do you deny the sexual perversity, decadence, immorality (fornication and adultery) that takes place in your religious institution or settings, even amongst the officials and leaders? Why do you think sex is so out of control today, but at the same time it’s used to control society (fear of contracting AIDS or STDs, fear of getting pregnant, etc.)?

Sex is connected to fear and fear is the greatest weapon of control on the masses of the people today. But moving along with our topic…

Healing Impotence

To combat or reverse impotence, eat a more vegan-vegetarian based diet and/or consume only sparse amounts of meat (white meat only). Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, raw and organic fruit, plenty of seeds and nuts (think about it, male sperm is commonly known as “seed” i.e. “to plant seed in a woman”; and ejaculation is commonly referred to as a “nut” or “nutting”, i.e. to bust a nut). The best seeds for a man to eat are pumpkin seeds (papitas) and sunflower seeds due to their rich zinc content. The male prostate gland is chiefly comprised of zinc and with every ejaculation, a man losses vital zinc.

There are a plethora of male-specific hormonal herbs that greatly help heal impotence and degeneracy of the male organ and reproductive system. Yohimbe bark, a powerful African aphrodisiac herb, greatly helps to counteract impotence by its power of increasing and enhancing blood flow to the penis greatly enhancing girth and hang time of the penis. Lycii berry invigorates the blood and can help to increase sperm count and reproductive secretions. Epimedium (Horny Goat weed), a powerful Chinese herb, counteracts premature ejaculation and improves circulation to the penis by its action of dilating the capillaries and larger blood vessels (just like Yohimbe). They don’t call this herb Horny Goat weed for nothing. Epimedium has an effect that makes a man (and a woman) horny and lustful like a goat. Muira Puama, a South American herb commonly known as “potency wood”, is probably the best herb in counteracting im(potence). It has a libido enhancing effect and greatly supports organ regeneration.

Ashwagandha, a powerful Indian or Ayurvedic herb, promotes sexual organ health and regeneration and also has a libido enhancing affect. Damiana, a Mexican aphrodisiac herb, greatly enhances circulation to the penis and energizes the penis. Sarsaparilla nourishes the male sex gland and system and greatly helps reverse conditions of impotence and degeneracy. I could never forget about Stiffcock Strongback. The name says it all for this West Caribbean herb! It is great for a stiff “cock” (penis) in cases of impotence and also strengthens the back which becomes degenerate from a lot of humping. Ever wanted to know why a man was said to be “sowing his oats” in regards to having sex with a woman? This saying has to do with the herb Oat or Oatstraw. Goats are very sexual and lusty creatures, and what do goats in America eat? Oatstraw (grass)! Oatstraw is excellent for the improvement of the male regenerative system.

From time to time (every 4-6 months), I make a tea with all of the foregoing herbs and some other herbs not mentioned, for maintenance of my reproductive system (and one day is all I need). It actually takes control over your body and you almost have no control over your sex organ. The penis does have a mind all of its own. God’s herbs are far more effective than man’s pharmaceutical drugs’ (Cialis and Viagra).

I concocted an herbal compound that we sell at DHERBS called Jackrabbit to serve as a safer and saner alternative to these harmful pharmaceutical sex enhancing drugs. If you really want to conceive a child or just improve your sex life, start messing around these herbs and herbal concoctions (Jackrabbit, Male Hormonal Formula, Prostate Formula). Your impotence will be gone in a matter of days. You will become a hound dog and a lusty goat, hopefully under the right circumstances (like being in a monogamous relationship or married). You’ll read the Song of Solomon in the Bible and become aroused at all of its sexual innuendos.

After all, God made the herbs for the service of man (Psalms 104:14) and instructed man to be fruitful and to multiply and replenish the earth (Genesis 1:28). Now if God instructed us to be fruitful and to multiply and replenish the earth, and today we cannot do such because we are impotent as men (and sterile or infertile as women), what does this imply? Somewhere along the line we have deviated from God’s path and ordained way of life for us. The proof is in the pudding! Our sexual disorders are preventing us from adhering to God’s commandment. Could our modern day high meat, dairy and starch-filled diets and fast-paced and technological-based lifestyles have something to do with this?

It’s interesting in that after God instructed man and woman to be fruitful and to multiply and replenish the earth in Genesis 1:28, God comes behind this with an ordained diet for man and woman in Genesis 1:29 that is a fruitarian (fruit-based) diet:

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

Now if God instructed us to eat fruit that contains seed, how come we are eating seedless fruit today, such as seedless watermelon, seedless grapes, seedless oranges, etc.? Again, we talk and profess God, but we are the most loyal imps of the Devil or Adversary and are too blind and self-righteous to know it, but are perplexed at our modern day pathologies and disorders. I truly understand how the devil came to God walking amongst the sons of God without the sons of God having a clue that the devil was with them:

“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.” JOB 1:6

So getting back to our Genesis-based fruit-based diet, the terms “fruitful” and “seed” have to do with sexual reproduction. Does a man not have “seed”? Is not a woman “fruitful”? The term “infertility” derives from the Latin word infertilis, meaning “not fruitful” [in “not” and fertilis “fruitful”]. A woman who is not fruitful is said to be infertile which brings us to the topic of female infertility.

What is infertility?

Infertility (or infertile) is defined as: “The inability to produce offspring. This condition may be present in one or both sex partners and may be temporary and reversible. The cause may be physical, including immature sexual organs, abnormalities of the reproductive system, hormonal imbalance, and dysfunction or anomalies in other organ systems, or may result from psychological or emotional problems. The condition is classified as primary, in which pregnancy has never occurred, and secondary, when there have been one or more pregnancies.” SOURCE: Mosby’s Dictionary, 3rd Edition (1990)

Eat plenty of artichokes and asparagus (steam them). Eat plenty of pomegranates, berries (raspberries, Lycii, vitex or chaste tree, blueberries, Goji, etc.). Eat plenty of sunflower and pumpkin seeds (uterus food). These are your fertility enhancing foods.

Women, do you know how to bless your wombs? Do you know how to prevent the psychic attacks on your womb?

Your womb is a potential internal nursery for a Rosemary’s Baby which means your womb is used to produce a baby for the Devil (Adversary, Matrix). In the 1966 Roman Polanski movie “Rosemary’s Baby”, actress Mia Farrow unsuspectedly and unknowingly carried a baby for the Devil. These murderers, serial killers, drive-by shooters, cut-throats, and natural born killers, where did they come from? Answer: from the womb of a female!

Healing for Infertility (Frigidity)

Herbs that help a woman to heal from infertility include SQUAWVINE, DAMIANA, ASHOKA, FALSE UNICORN, SAW PALMETTO BERRIES, CHASTE TREE BERRIES, MACA MACA and BALA.

The following essential oils may be burned in a diffuser, added to bath water, or inhaled throughout to help enhance fertility: CLARY SAGE, JASMINE, YLANG YLAND COMBAVA, ROSE ABSOLUTE and TUBEROSE.

Crystals and gemstones such as ROSE QUARTZ, CARNELIAN, CHRYSOPRASE, MOLDAVITE, ZINCITE, MOONSTONE, CINNABAR (DRAGON’S BLOOD), RHODOLITE GARNET, JADE, THULITE, RHODONITE, RHODOCHROSITE and PEARL all enhance fertility

Formulas that will aid and assist in impotence and infertility include: JACKRABBIT, FEMALE HORMONAL, MALE HORMONAL, YONI, STD-RID, AND PROSTATE.

Why Home Weather Stations Require the Right Battery

Weather stations that can be used by people at home are quite useful weather instruments to monitor one’s immediate environment. These tools have the ability to provide information that the weather man can’t. There are many different types of weather instruments that offer excellent utility and accurate information for a range of activities, including sports, research, professional photography, adventure travel, and agriculture etc. A weather station at your house can be quite useful especially on the months of fall and winter, during which time the weather can be quite unpredictable. Weather during summer is pretty much predictable, but winter months especially in colder regions of the United States of America and Canada can be quite dangerous.

Unfortunately, even if you buy one of the best brands of home weather stations, it’s the batteries that often pose a problem. The colder the weather, the worse their performance. When compared with car batteries, that give specific warnings regarding battery performance during various seasons, batteries used in these weather instruments are conspicuous due to lack of this information. Since batteries form an important part of the station system, it’s important to not just be able to choose the right battery but also understand the difference between the different types.

Alkaline Batteries: These batteries are good for weather station sensor located outside your home during mild summers to cold winters. However, as it gets colder, below freezing point, the chemicals in the battery start to have a problem and become weak and may stop working altogether. However, new alkaline batteries may still work up to 0 degree Celsius. If your battery is weak, bring it indoors to warm it up and use them again.

NiMh Rechargeable Batteries: If you stay in a really cold region where temperatures during winter months, often fall to below 0 degrees, its best to buy NiMh rechargeable batteries. These batteries work up to -10 degree C levels, however, you will have to recharge them on a more frequent basis to keep your weather station working.

Lithium AA Batteries: A new entrant in the market, these Lithium AA size batteries are excellent for cold weather. They work even in temperatures as low as -30 degrees. However, unlike NiMh cells, these batteries can’t be recharged and must not be used in the NiMh AA recharger.

In case you have a portable weather station that works with remote sensors and has a LCD display, it is possible that even when you use Li batteries the display tends to freeze below 0 degree. The reason for this is because LCDs are incapable of operation in very cold conditions. However, keep the weather meter inside exposing it to outside environment only when you need to check the weather and just trust the device! In any case, weather stations display the data on the screen indoors and will indicate a problem, if it does exist.

How To Call Australia

Here are step by step instructions on how to call Australia. To make any international call, there are a few things you need to know. The international Prefix. This code allows you to dial outside of the Country you are calling from, and every country has different codes. The next digits you will dial are the country code of the country you are calling. The country code can be from 1 to 3 digits. Next, you dial the area code or city code. This can be anywhere from 1 to 3 digits and will narrow your call down geographically in the country your calling. Last, but not least, you dial the local number, that’s it! Will look like this:

Step 1: Dial International Call Prefix (Dial 011 : The international access code)

Step 2: Dial Country Code (Dial 61 : The country code for Australia)

Step 3: Dial City Code (below)

* Adelaide – 08

* Albury – 02

* Alice Springs – 08

* Armidale – 02

* Ballarat – 03

* Brisbane – 07

* Cairns – 07

* Canberra – 02

* Darwin – 08

* Geelong – 03

* Gold Coast – 07

* Hamilton – 03

* Hobart – 03

* Launceston – 03

* Melbourne – 03

* Mildura – 03

* Newcastle – 02

* Perth – 08

* Sydney – 02

* Toowoomba – 07

* Townsville – 02

* Wollongong – 02

Step 4: Dial Local Number.

So, lets say you are trying to call Sydney, Australia from Miami, Florida, USA. Lets say the local number is 643-4398. You know that 011 is the prefix when dialing from inside the US. The country code for Australia is 61. The city code (area code) for Sydney is 02, and that’s it! Done deal. So your dialing sequence will look like this:

011 + 61 + 02 + 6434398

The Advantages and Disadvantages of a Cordless Drill Battery

Just in case you’re not sure what type of cordless drill batteries are needed for longer run times and are lighter in weight, this article will explain the advantages and disadvantages of NiCad (nickel cadium), NiMH (nickel metal hydride) and Li-Ion (lithium ion) batteries. Battery is one of the most important factors to consider when buying any portable devices and tools. Without a good battery to last the long hours of dedicated work, it limits the benefits of portability.

Advantages of NiCad Battery

It has longer recharge cycle life of up to 1000 cycles, slighter longer than NiMH batteries. NiCad batteries are the first battery introduced into a cordless drill. It is more robust to temperature that means it can run well regardless of weather conditions. NICad batteries have long shelf life and the lowest cost per charging cycle.

Disadvantages

It has its disadvantages. NiCad has memory effects. It can easily lose it ability to maintain full charge. One way to prevent it is to discharge it completely and recharge again. It is also not environmental friendly (toxic metals).

Advantages of NiMH Battery

NiMH batteries have higher energy density and therefore run longer than NiCad batteries. Lighter than NiCad batteries and carry less heavy metals seems to be more advantageous between both batteries.

Disadvantages

However, it is more sensitive to temperature and may not work below zero degrees or above forty degrees centigrade. If you live in tropical countries, you may have no problems using it but the shorter recharge life cycle than NiCad batteries will most probably force you to stay away from NiMH batteries.

Advantages of Li-Ion Battery

That is the choice if you have been using it in cordless drills. Li-Ion battery is the latest amongst the three types. The advantages far outweigh its disadvantages and many cordless drill manufactures started to use Li-Ion battery in newer models. Two factors certainly affect consumer’s buying decision – longer run times per charge and its weight. Li-Ion batteries have the most run times compared with the rest and it weighs much lighter amongst the three types of batteries. It does not have memory effect and not require to fully discharge to prolong battery life. In fact, it is recommended to partial charge and discharge more often to maintain if not prolongs its shelf life.

For power users who need to drill all day long certainly need more run times per charge to reduce changing battery too often. Lighter weight also means less stress on the wrist.

Disadvantages

However, the disadvantages of shorter shelf life and higher price might be the major drawback for conservative users. If you are a power user and use it almost on a daily basis, two to three years of consistent use is enough to retire the battery. The convenience that Li-Ion batteries provide is already worth the initial price.

In conclusion, the recommendation is to choose Li-Ion battery for cordless drills. Li-Ion batteries have long been used in cell phones and it is only later that cordless drill manufacturers started to catch up. In my opinion, latest technology always provides better advantages than disadvantages for consumers. If you have not already use Li-Ion battery operated cordless drill, it is time to make a change.

The Importance of Batteries

Imagine yourself not being able to move around while using your mobile phone because its battery is busted and will only work while it is plugged in to a power source. I bet you would think that is too inconvenient, am I right? When our phone’s battery ran out, we tend to think of all possible ways to recharge it so we could use our phone again. It is on these instances that we actually realize how important portable batteries have become in our lives now. These batteries are used in almost all portable electronic devices. Batteries have made our life so convenient that sometimes we tend to overlook their importance. Changing channels on the television, talking on the phone while walking around, using your laptop while on the move or taking pictures would never be so easy if batteries were not invented. These scenarios prove that batteries are present in almost all aspects of our daily lives.

Batteries are devices used to store and generate electrical energy. Apart from being used in daily household products, batteries are used in automobiles, computer data stations or even forklift equipment. These batteries are specially built to power devices that require high power output. They are called lithium acid batteries with a signature letter of A. They should not be used for smaller appliances as they might damage it with its large amount of power. However, they can be used to power a home in case of a power blackout.

The batteries that we use in regular household appliances are known as lithium or lithium ion batteries. They provide instant power when required but do not last forever as their energy gets drained out. Some of their applications can be in portable radios, TV remotes or toys. An interesting thing about these batteries is that they can even be used to power electric cars! They come in various sizes to support different devices. Some examples of their size are double A or triple A. Nickel cadmium batteries, or also known as Ni Cad batteries, are rechargeable batteries. These rechargeable batteries do not only make our lives easier but also more economical. Because of them, we do not need to buy and change our hand phone’s battery every time it dies. Applications of this battery can be in mobile phones, cordless phones, Mp3 players and cameras. Even though, these batteries tend to be more expensive as compared to regular batteries, in the long run, they are proven to be more economical as you do not have waste money on batteries again and again.

Batteries have been so successful due to the fact that they are portable. Manufacturers of batteries always try to out-do their competitors by coming out with various types of batteries that can last longer. Due to their success, more gadgets were invented that could be used on the move. Proper care and usage of batteries is important to avoid any mishaps. You should not try to recharge batteries that are not meant to be recharged as this can cause the battery to leak and damage your appliance. Ensure that batteries are being used in a dry environment to be able to take full advantage of them.

Some Popular Markets in Lagos, Nigeria

In Lagos, Nigeria, there are a number of markets that attract a large number of people for various reasons. Some people go to these markets to purchase items because of their relatively low prices while others prefer them for a quality shopping experience. Take for instance a small scale retailer based in one of the suburbs, he or she may visit these markets to purchase bulk items from wholesalers in order to resell at lower prices at a more convenient time and place. If you as a retailer deal in GSM products such as sim packs, mobile phones, GSM recharge cards and accessories the you will naturally visit a market that has a large number wholesalers dealing in such products. In Lagos Nigeria, such places include Computer Village in Ikeja, parts of the Lagos island Market (Idumota) and one end of Saka Tinubu in Victoria Island. This of course is just an example as there are unlimited number of products and services one could deal in.

Here is my list of popular markets in Lagos Nigeria and the Kind of products such markets deal in;

1. Yaba also known as Tejuosho Market currently undergoing renovation it is one of the most modern markets in West Africa with standard facilities and infrastructure. Tejuosho market is a densely populated market, with thousands of shopping units and tens of thousands of customers who patronize the businesses that are resident in the complex on a daily basis. Until 2007 when parts of the market were gutted by fire, Tejuosho market was perhaps the busiest market in Lagos Nigeria after Idumota, Balogun, Oshodi, Alaba Market and seme markets.

2. Alaba International market. The so called largest electronics market in Africa, Alaba international Market is home to the biggest dealers of electronic products in Nigeria. Many of the dealers are big time importers and distributors of electrical and electronic gadgets such as flat screen televisions, generators, home appliances especially refrigerators, fans, air conditioners, even DVD sets, digital satellite dishes and decoders and many more. The market is a beehive of activities on all days of the week except on Sundays when most of the traders go to church.

3. Computer village. Computer village as the name implies is a market that deals primarily in the buying and selling of computers including software and hardware, mobile phones and their accessories. It is home to some of Nigeria’s best phone and computer repair guys with many of them demonstrating remarkable skills in managing, maintaining and repairing phones, computer parts and other related gadgets. However there is a draw back, this market is also notorious for housing some people of questionable character such as touts, pirates, pick pockets and fraudsters. However the market offers many benefits such as affordable prices and quality products but only where such products are purchased from reputable and authorized dealers.

4. Idumota. One of the oldest markets in Lagos Nigeria, this market is the largest market in West Africa and possibly Africa with tens of thousands of lock up shops occupying various buildings in the market. The distinct feature about this market is that it is made up of very many multiple storey buildings some measuring 5 or even more floors. Most of the shops are actually apartment rooms converted into shops. The market is so big that as early as 6 am in the morning it is already recording large volume of transactions.

5. Balogun. Like the Idumota Market, Balogun market is located on the Lagos Island axis. It too is an old market with very many lock up shops however unlike Idumota market it has much fewer multiple storey buildings. Parts of this market extend into Marina and Broad Street (two of the busiest streets in the central business district of Lagos Nigeria).

6. Mile 12. This market is popular for being the hotbed of farm produce and raw foods. Any vegetable or fruit that grows in tropical Africa except those that are alien to Nigerian soil can be found in this market. It is the cheapest market for foodstuff especially vegetables, fruits and livestock other farm produce.

7. Mushin. Mushin market is a market known for having very cheap items when compared with other markets of Lagos Nigeria. The market is both a wholesale and retail market with almost every consumable imaginable available for sale.

8. Oshodi. Known for its rowdiness and large size Oshodi Market is Nigeria’s second largest market after Idumota market. Up until early 2008, Oshodi was a no go area for many pedestrians and motorists as its roads were so jam packed that free flow of traffic was almost impossible. That is a thing of the past following the determination of the Lagos state government to rid the state of rowdiness, lawlessness and disorderliness. Prices of commodities in this market are also relatively cheap.

9. Onyingbo (White sand). This market located in the mainland Yaba axis along with its sister market at Iddo is a prime market in that it serves as a transit point between Lagos and a number of Northern states with foodstuff arriving from Northern Nigeria straight to it through Iddo. Although not as cheap as Ketu Market, oyingbo market has a number of affordable commodities mainly foodstuff and livestock.

10. Alade Market in Ikeja. This market is modern but not as complete as tejuosho. A number of businesses mostly corporate services and retail stores operate in the market offering services such as travel and tour services, bureau de change, resale of consumables and even car hire services exist in this market. Things are relatively expensive owing to its location (Allen Avenue) and proximity to the international airport.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Electric Bicycles

An electric bicycle is powered by a battery and is preferred and selected by more and more people nowadays. Many people would like to choose electric bikes rather than ordinary bikes or cars because electric bike is environmentally friendly and has many advantages. However, every coin has two sides. Electric bicycles also have some disadvantages.

Advantages

Electric bikes have a lot of advantages and in this article I want to state some of them.

  • It can help you save money.
  • Imagine that if you have an electric bicycle, you will do not need to buy expensive petrol or gasoline and a large garage to park your car. Besides, you need not to spend money on car repairs and other services. All these can save you a lot of money. Generally, an electric bike is very cheap when compared to cars.

  • You will not sweat when riding it.
  • When riding an electric bicycle, you will not have to put in much effort. So you will not be sweaty when you reach your destination. This advantage can be more obvious when summer comes or when you need to travel a long way.

  • It is quiet and safe.
  • Unlike cars and scooters which have noisy engines, electric cycle provides you a quiet surrounding because the motor on it is almost silent. Moreover, it can also offer you a controlled and safe riding experience.

Disadvantages

  • Battery costs
  • We all know that electric cycles are powered by batteries and all batteries have useful time. So when the battery on the bike gets old, we should buy a new one. However, the old batteries pollute the environment heavily and the new battery costs can be high.

  • Heavy to carry
  • Usually speaking, an electric bicycle is heavy and some cheaper ones may be heavier because they use lead acid batteries. So if the battery runs out on the way, you will feel difficult to pedal.

  • Battery recharge
  • You need to recharge the battery daily or very often and it always takes several hours for the battery to recharge fully. So before going somewhere, you should firstly make sure that the battery is full charged or you will have to pedal it.

Though there are some disadvantages of electric bicycles, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. There is no perfect vehicle and among all vehicles, electric bicycle is the most worthy one. Do not hesitate, choose an electric bike and change your way of life.
